Happy New Year! This has certainly been a crazy year, and reflecting back on everything that’s happened in our world it can be a little overwhelming. Personally, I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions but I do want to spend more time with my family this coming year and enjoy my son in his baby-prime. Also, my wife the White Out Mage is expecting: due April 1st! No joke! I guess that’s one more party member joining our adventure (Baby Blue Mage and Sweat Pea Mage). We’re going to find out the gender (finally!) this next Tuesday.
A sincere thank you to everyone who commented, liked, or followed The Well-Red Mage blog since our inception in February. This has been a wonderful journey for almost a full year. I’ve enjoyed many conversations and learned a lot from you. You’ve been a part of who I’ve become as a writer and a person. This has been a great opportunity to dedicate myself to the craft of writing and one of my goals of learning to write faster has been vaguely achieved. So thank you. I wish you a very healthy and happy New Year.
And now on to our reviews for the month of December:
Back in the infant days of November, I announced that I was going to be tackling StuGhiFeaFilReMo, or Studio Ghibli Feature Film Review Month! That’s twenty-one films from the master animators and directors at Studio Ghibli Japan. Unfortunately, I failed the task and I didn’t meet the challenge of reviewing all of them in one month.
It oughtn’t have been that hard, considering there are 31 days in December, but I sorely underestimated the holidays, time off laxness, family time, etc, etc. Point is, I’ll be finishing up the Ghibli canon with Arrietty, From Up On Poppy Hill, The Wind Rises, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya, and When Marnie Was There. Can’t wait till I reach the last one, since I’ve yet to see it. Thanks to everyone who’s followed along with the series. You can also let me know which Ghibli films you’ve seen by taking the poll here.
Also happenin’ in December were a few awesome interview participants:
Once we conclude our reviews of the Ghibli films, I’ll post a summary with the respective scores and invite you to organize the films you’ve seen in order of greatness and magnitude!
Bright things are ahead! And now back to Stardew Valley and Final Fantasy XV for me…
